Welcome to the first official Ursuline Salamanca Delegation blog post!! To kick off our trip, the delegates and their doting mothers dined at Café Madrid...our first real taste of Spanish culture and cuisine. I think I can speak for all of the girls when I say that at this point, we were all -of course- excited for our trip but also a little nervous and maybe trepidatious about leaving our homes for 2 1/2 weeks. However, I think the opportunity to test out some traditional foods at this event was invaluable because it rid us of any potential surprises with our host families' cooking. Some of these foods included calamari, gazpacho, and croquetas, most of which were relatively (if not entirely) foreign to us. And in case we were not all well acquainted beforehand, we were by the time we left the restaurant! ¡Buen viaje!
